SPS Kindness Challenge

Bus Evacuation:
I have been informed that we will be having a Bus Evacuation drill tomorrow 10/19. I am not sure if you have done this before. Jeannie will be doing it so it should be fine. I think we will only do it with the students on IEPS. The drill is scheduled to begin at 9:30, but I was just told that Jeannie will be ready to begin at 8:30. Any staff who are available during this time to support please try to be present. The schedule will be as follows:
8:30 – 8:45 Emily and Lisa
8:45 – 9:00 Dominique and Kathy
9:00 – 9:15 Raeleanne and Michelle
9:15 – 9:30 Susan and Alyssa
9:30 – 9:45 Cindy and Beth
Staff Meetings:
We have several meetings coming up in the next couple of weeks. In order to ensure that we have a clear understanding around the plans and expectations I am clarifying them below.
Wednesday October 20 – Early Release Day 11:45 – 2:00
This is a meeting for all Preschool/PreK staff including Bates, HMLS and our Partners. Paras please plan to be present for this meeting as it is part of the regular school day. We will be having a discussion regarding Teachpoint Goals and My Igdi training.
Wednesday October 27 – Staff Meeting 2:45 – 4:30
This is a regular staff meeting. We will be together in person including Paras. This is a whole group meeting to discuss the Equity Imperative work that we have been doing on our own. Paras if you are unable to make this meeting please let me know ASAP.
Tuesday November 2 – Full Day PD 8:15 – 2:30
This is a full day Professional Development Day. During this time we will engage in learning centers facilitated by Salem State University professors. We will all attend a PD on Universal Design for Learning and after you will each attend two small group PDs. You will choose from Interactive Read Aloud, Planning Windows and Mirrors lessons, and Planning Development Math Centers. We will end the day with My Igdi training. An agenda will be coming soon. (A light lunch and breakfast will be provided)
Classroom Coverage
I want to give a huge thank you to those of you who have supported us in covering classes so far this year. You have done it eagerly and with a smile. I know it is disruptive, but as we all know unavoidable. While I am super impressed with the attendance of staff here at the ECC it is inevitable that as the year goes on winter comes upon us staff attendance is likely to decline. In addition your attendance will be expected at meetings and evals. I anticipate that I will be asking for more and more support in this area and I appreciate your flexibility ahead of time.
Creating a New Classroom Library:
Classroom Library Project
Please see the link above for information on creating an Equitable classroom Library. This is an excellent opportunity to receive new books for your classroom. I am guessing there may be some questions around this. Please reach out to me for information. If enough people have questions I am happy to have a short special meeting to go over this or we can discuss at CPT.
